Bodiam Castle. apparently one of the few surviing casles of it's period, as most others were...
a) Blown up when Cromwell came to power b) lived in, and adapted and remoded continously. Despite the fairytale looks, Bodiam was build with cannon in mind and one of the oldest known cannon was found in the moat there, I learned a new phrase there as well, "Licence to Crenelate" the term for when the king gives a local lord premission to build a fortification |
